Well,
I've came home around quarter to 8pm yesterday. Been up since around half past 3 am, as I took my dad to Ljubljana for his trip to Prague. My mom was supposed to do it, but I figured it shouldn't be a problem, and she should get her sleep as she had plenty appointments today. Anyways, I've spent quite some time listing all the items I got on Salute and from Bryan the Undiefan (as in Undead, of course!) - I mean...when was the last time you've seen him show you the vampires, eh? Anyways, there is looooads of stuff. Really a lot. And when I was doing the list, I kept thinking what is the point, really? I figured I'd brag a bit, but it has no real value for my readers, until it is painted.
I've deleted the long, useless post and I will show you the pictures of the stuff not in one big lump, where you can't see anything, but in separate posts when I will have nothing better to post. If anyone is really interested in all I've got, I can freely share information later. Let me just say I have bought only Strange Aeons related stuff (well, most of it can be used for gangsters or even any other era as well (as foliage, crates and barrels). I would like to thank once again for all that everyone has done for me during past 2 weeks and I must say it was really nice to meet each and every one!
Regarding Salute, there are three things that I would change regarding my shopping:
I forgot to pick up more 30 and 40 mil bases to compliment my 25mm slottas. I got some from my preorder with Hasslefree, but I think I'll need more. Second thing, I really wanted to find something that Bryan doesn't have yet and a salute figure would be fantastic, albeit useless for him...I forgot to go pick it up. Thirdly, I've bought wooden barrels at Fenris, but in the moment of all my enthusiasm (I've just entered one of the biggest wargaming shows and met Fenris' Ian after all!), I've picked the toxic ones. Only saw it when I was back in at "my" place, checking what all I've got :P. The good thing is, they will still be used in my zombie wargaming, so they're not a wasted purchase...the bad thing is, I didn't get the wooden ones I was after!
As for all I've picked at Bryan's...there is a lot. And I am really grateful - Thank you! I've also picked lots of Lledo cars I got on Ebay, but that demands a separate post!
Lastly, if you'd ask me what was the ultimate highlight of my trip, it was a day Zabadak Joe and Vampi Bryan took me to the beach. That was just fantastic and I am looking forward to another one!
SALUTE 2013 REPORT
So, after a great week up north, where people are having plodges and eat stotties, I've came to London on Wednesday. When I was riding a tube to my place, I could actually feel the sheer weight of the city on me...felt kinda lonely :D. Anyways, I did some sightseeing so it wasn't too bad, but I was really looking forward to Salute, so I could "run with the herd". I took it slow that morning, so I wouldn't be too early. I have no idea what made me think I will be the only one there! I came around half an hour before opening and when I saw this huge-ass-all-around-the-Excel line, I was happy to know I'll slip by, holding to my advanced ticket...except I wouldn't as there were hundreds of people just like me. It took me some 45 or so minutes to get inside, so only 10-20 minutes after the opening, wasn't too bad.
Here you can see the line, but it is hard to imagine, it formed and U when I came and something undefinable by the time I made the second turn!
Inside, I got overzealous a bit, but again, bought nothing that I wouldn't need in one way or another. Most "unneeded" products that I got were 1920s policemen (figured I'd use them for Treshold agents and gangster games) and rendera plastic tents (need them for 1 scenario, and I was planning to make my own, but well, still useful). I've bought some "lurkers" (SA bad guys and monsters) but I'll review them over the time. I've also bought some foliage at the Scottish guy that actually games with us in Slovenia, he is here quite frequently. Got 5 packs of various foliage, that should last me for ever.
Mutineer Miniatures stand! |
At 1pm I made my way to the blogger meeting, anxious to meet Clint, Colin (yes, I still keep mixing the two) and Dave. Colin was just like Clints fudge, expected but never seen, which is really a shame, as now I have to come again next year! :P Anyways, I've also met quite a number of other guys, whose blogs I still have to add to my blog roll! Clint, Dave and I stuck together to the end of the day. As Dave has mentioned it, Clint happened to become our guide, and he got us a shooting session with Misty and a local zombie! It is nice to know people that matter! After a while, Colin went to speak to someone, so Dave and I tried ourselves at a game.
The game was randomly picked, I really liked the settings. It was some sort of victorian sci-fi setting, where London is covered by toxic smog. Roads have been risen and the city was invaded by germans. Brave british rocket troops had to fight their way from A to B while fighting germans. Dave has decided he wants to play the guy with bare head. And by that, I mean decided so much, he used his acting "skills" to appear the youngest of 5 players (I guess the two kids were something like 10-12 :P). Still, he has only picked third, but he made sure he got what he wants! I've picked myself a tommy gunner. I didn't care much about the rest 3 guys, as we didn't knew them, but in short, I had a boring game, shot some germans with tommy gun, wounded one and wasn't allowed to finish him off, as this apparently isn't a British thing to do. My claims that I am not British didn't help :(. Dave had way more interesting game as he has experienced hiding behind a car (that drove away), chasing said care and jumping in trough the rear, just to see the car shot next turn. Then he ran some more and most of the time stayed a safe distance behind me! I know, I know, unbelievable, but photos don't lie!

Hi Mathyoo. I'm glad to hear that you got home safely and that you had such a great time in England. For me, the highlight of your stay was the day out at the coast with our wonderful driver, Joe. Now you know what plodging is! I also thoroughly enjoyed playing LOTS of games of Zombicide with you. it's good to have you back blogging again.
ReplyDeleteCheers mate, got two SA lurker prepared for next two posts from before I left, now I will do something for zombies I believe...to give it a bit of a boost!
DeleteNice Pics mate. Glad you had a good day.
ReplyDeleteThanks! And sure did! ;)
DeleteSome very nice photos and it was great to meet you at the show!!!
ReplyDeleteYou too, and send regards to Big Lee and Fran! Got lots of new blogs to follow thank to you guys! :D
DeleteNice pics mate. Thanks for sharing them. If you go next year. Hopefully i'll meet you in tehe flesh :D
ReplyDeleteThat is what I plan, but it is certainly too soon to speak hehe
DeleteSome great pics there Matevz; it was really good to meet you and chat.
ReplyDeleteRight back at you! Again, thanks for everything!
DeleteGreat photo's and glad you enjoyed the blogger gathering. Love your description of the queue as a "huge-ass-all-around-the-Excel line"...totally accurate.
ReplyDeleteHah, yeah, just imagine how low my jaws dropped, nobody has prepared me for it!
DeleteWas good to meet you mate, and I'm glad you had a great time. I did enjoy our go of that Victorian game, even though that little kid stole my car lol
ReplyDeleteSee, if Clint would be with us, I'm sure the kid wouldn't play :P
DeleteHey Mathyoo, I'm really sorry that I didn't get to meet you :( I just hope you'll be over next year so there is another opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI got to the queue about 9.20 (that's the pre-purchase ticket queue) and was in about 10.10 (BTW the pic of the q you mention in your post isn't showing!) so a similar experience to you and the norm for Salute at Excel ... if you don't pre-buy a ticket and get there at the same time it can be about 11am before you get it (I did it once- not again!)
The best thing, though, is that you travelled all that way and enjoyed it!!
Cheers mate, next year sounds like a good plan. I am young and we can keep trying for decades, if need be! :D
DeleteI must say I was planning to visit England anyways honestly, just tweaked it to include Salute this time! :P
