Some conversions

Hello,

to move on with a hobby, I got some photos of what I've been doing lately. I am sculpting guns for my moderns project (more on that in next post) and as each stage takes only a little, little putty, I tend to use the excess on conversions and other, "lesser" projects.

Below are some zombie conversions. One is a Mantic Zombie turned Fat batman. He is supposed to be a cosplay nerd from a convention that turned bad. Apocalyptic bad! Hue hue hue!

Other one is a Studio miniatures sexy shirt-torn guy. You really don't need more than one of those (and even in that case, that is one too many). I have decided to make him a riot policeman or a soldier, but while I was working on his body armour, decided to make a war correspondent. He must have been late to the show, but his puny protection couldn't save him from ending the same way as his "headline news".

Last one is another mantic zombie. It's one of my first conversions, a Tongue zombie from NMRiH book. I have just added some rags to him, nothing overly complicated, really.

I've also added a small bag to one of my TAG survivors. Nothing special here, but it helps adding character to the miniature.

Below are five bodies I've sculpted over the past few months. They are nothing special, mostly a "putty dump". As I plan on sculpting more now, I've also started working on another five. I have five done and painted, that have proven to be great scenery.

Lastly, here are 4 of Ebob's dollies for my modern project. They break a lot, but then again, that's what makes them easy to pose. The kneeling is broken, as I've managed to throw a book on them during the black out. It sucks, but it's nothing I can't fix with some putty and perhaps some glue.

Thanks for looking,
Mathyoo

  1. They are looking good. I'm so impressed with you guys that sculpt. What this shows me is how a little it of effort can make a huge difference to the character of your figure. Well done. Oh also congrats on your 2nd anniversary, somehow you last post slipped by me. Keep up the good work, I enjoy reading your blog.

    1. Thanks Bob! I think it's worth the effort. No matter how bad it looks, it's still makes a miniature special. I have to admit there's more I'd like to add on some simpler miniatures, but then I never know what exactly to do, so I have to hold myself back a bit :P.

  2. Nice work all round, Mathyoo. You're getting a lot better at pushing putty around. See, practice does make perfect1 the figures that impressed me the most were your five corpses. I wish more firms made corpses. For any post apoc setting, corpses are an essential piece of scenery.

    1. Cheers mate. I have noticed the figures can be much cleaner if I put an effort into it, but for the actual humans, I'd need to work more on them. This moderns project should help me with that . For the corpses, I have to admit I prefer the first ones, as they were a bit larger.

  3. Excellent - I agree that zombie games really need more corpses and these look very nice.

I'm also looking forward to seeing "Batman" painted up, as I've got a long term plan to stage a zombie game in a sci-fi/superhero convention myself. The video trailer for the book "Night of the Living Trekkies" is exactly the kind of thing I have in mind...

    1. Haha, that's a great video! I'm looking forward to that game!
The Batman will probably have to wait, I have 4 on the painting table (the journalist is one of them :P), but they've came to a halt. I have found out I hate painting blue now :D

  5. Nice one mate. But no more throwing books.... it does the book no good either. Everything seems to be coming on nicely. I look forward to seeing them progress.

    1. Well, I have to say this might came out wrong. I took it out of the shelf (that's part of my desk/bed unit) and I've put it on the table...and on the armatures :P. I can promise I take great care of my books, I'm well taught :P

  6. Nice work mate. Love the Cosplayer what a great idea! You need to do an Avengers Assemble team!

Looking forward to seeing the progress with the weapons. Have you thought about using instamould on your F2000's one you have one finished you could then create copies to add the mods to. kind of like a master.

    1. Thanks! I think Avengers won't work, however. As far as I'm concerned comics start and end with Batman and Spiderman, okay, a Superman works, too. But that's about it :P.

Great idea on the instamould! I totally forgot about that! While I think guns are too complex for that, I could certainly use that to help me with the pouches and other equipment! I'll hopefully be able to get heads and guns cast in metal - that'd really save me whole lot of trouble :)

    1. Thanks Bob! Sculpting seemed overwhelming to me at first, but it's really fun. I have to admit it's disappointing most of the time, but hey, it's like drawing but 3D, right? :D
